About Jessica

I have lived in some amazing places, I grew up in Massachusetts, near Salem, Massacusetts, which started my lifelong interest in metaphysics. In high school my family moved to Cape Cod, where my folks got into the Greenhouse business.

In College, I studied Biology and computers, and worked in several computer programming jobs.

I moved to California (after a brief time in Flagstaff/Sedona) in the late 1990s when for 8 years I got to be a princess, as a resident living in a modern day castle in Glendora (Rubel Castle (see video) 20 minutes east of Pasadena)

After meeting my ‘prince’ Jeff we lived in several other great areas of Southern California, but settled in Cambria, CA on the Central Coast, midway between Los Angeles and California, less than a mile to the ocean.

I have also been to Kyoto Japan more than 12 times, for 2-4 weeks each time and consider it among the great places I have lived.

I encountered Reiki at a metaphysical weekend festival in 1992. I had been to many such festivals, and enjoyed going to the hour or so long talks on a wide range of subjects. I went to the Reiki workshop, mostly cause I have never heard of it, and Japan sounded interesting. It was a revelation.

Even people with modest psychic ability could do Reiki. It was simple, intuitive, repeatable and amazing. I loved how anyone who wanted to could learn it, and yet it coud be used in so many ways. I quickly learned Reiki 1&2, repeated it with different teachers, and did the same with Reiki Mastery. I became a teacher for the International Center for Reiki training, and got to teach thousands of people Reiki over the next 20 years. I became interested in the emerging history of Reiki in Japan and made numerous trips, which led to my book, “Reiki’s Birthplace: A Site Guide to Kurama Mountain”

I retired from the center in late 2015 to develop my own style of Reiki, Reiki Explorer. Reiki explorer is not just about teaching students the art of Reiki healing, but equally about empowering the individual student to believe in themselves, their ability to think about intuitive arts like Reiki logically and from their own experiment and experience, and their ability to make positive change in the world. In addition to Reiki basics, Reiki explorer includes its own suite of techniques to work with more types of healing and life challenges.

Unlike most forms of holistic healing and medicine, Reiki is about both on-the-table sessions and giving the individual tools to make their life, and the lives of the people around them, better in a myriad of ways. My teaching style emphasizes both traditional sessions, and a deep belief in the power of informal, minitreatments f Reiki to solve problems and transform lives.

Teaching Style and Philosophy

I believe teaching Reiki is not just about teaching students the art of Reiki healing, but equally about empowering the individual student to believe in themselves, their abilty to think about Reiki logically, and their ability to make positive change in the world.

Unlike most forms of holistic healing and medicine, Reiki is about both table sessions and giving the individual tools to make their life, and the lives of the people around them, better in a myriad of ways. My teaching style emphasizes professionalism; combined with a deep belief in the power of causal, everyday Reiki to solve problems and transform lives.

My Background

Orignially, I am from Massachusetts, but I moved to the great Los Angeles area in the late 90's. I lived for 8 years in Rubel Castle 20 minutes east of Pasadena. I moved to Cambria on California's central coast in 2011. I teach in both the San Jose and Glendale areas, and periodically elsewhere as invited.

I majored in biology in college, and minored in computers. I have also always had an interest in metaphysics. I combine both of these in my teaching of Reiki. Students are not just taught rules, but testable principles in how to use Reiki that builds confidence.

I encountered Reiki in the summer of 1992, and learned from a senior student of Diane Steins (Essential Reiki). I went on to get most of the Reiki books in print, and became a Reiki Master in 1993. I repeated all my training multiple times, and for 20 years was a teacher for the Int. Center for Reiki Training. This included the Reiki Retreats where i was able to develop and teach many of my own ideas.

I got very interested in what was emerging about the history of Reiki in Japan. I started going to Japan yearly to learn as much as I could, and to spend time on Kurama mountain in Japan where Reiki started, which led to my writing my book, Reiki's Birthplace.

Fate put me in the very first Holy Fire Reiki class in Maui in Jan 2014, i taught Holy Fire Reiki for several years, before breaking off to create my own Reiki school, Reiki Exporer.

In the course of my Reiki career i have trained over 4000 people in Reiki, and done hundreds of Reiki sessions.
